Adam Pelzer’s

story with instrument restoration is marked by a deep appreciation for both craftsmanship and sound as a medium of art. Beginning his apprenticeship at the Mittenwald Violin Making School in 2009 and furthering studies at Hans Weisshar and Florian Leonhard Fine Violins, Adam has since traced a trajectory of craft-honing and experience-building through collaborations with some of the world’s great musicians and experts. Equally committed to his local community here in the Bay Area, he is the in-house luthier of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, works with the Symphony, Opera, and Ballet, and has given lectures at Stanford University and Festival Napa Valley.

Adam now runs his own workshop in San Francisco’s historic Hobart Building, offering a carefully curated selection of instruments and bows, spanning from talented modern makers to the golden age. Outside of restoration, he takes pleasure in helping musicians find instrument and bows that serve and inspire them.
